There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino betting is not legal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
